The importance of the Nap

Every Disneyland vacation, we incorporate a day time nap or down time. Here are a few things that we’ve done in the past for this down time:

Everyone needs that down time from the park. Most of the time after lunch or prior to lunch your family will start to melt down or get really hungry. We start to make our way back to hotel around noon to get out of the way of the lunch time lunatics. The rush gets pretty bad and the families start to fall apart. If you can handle it, you might be able to stay in the park but we usually take a 3-4 hour nap and return for evening rides and shows at night.
Our goal is usually get 3 Fast Pass rides in before this nap and anything extra is bonus. We also try to ride 1-2 smaller rides that get packed. On our way back to our hotel, we will pick up some pretzels to munch while in the hotel.
On the 1st day we will take advantage of any snacks or sandwiches we have in the hotel. People sleep and eat as they please in the room.
I will take a 1-2 hour nap and then wake up to change clothes and blog or document our travels. I will also set up nighttime items like light up items and pins and changes of clothes.
When we are in the park on a slow season, we will take a swim or walk around Downtown Disney. During the high season we try to get into the park right away after the nap and food.
We usually end up:
Picking up fast passes and then going on either family ride or show.

These are great ways to reenter the parks slowly.

I highly recommend the nap and change of shoes. Your shoes begin to wear on you but if you have a different pair of shoes for the night, it’s like a new lease on the park!
